Jesus. Even if you don’t learn anything about our church through this website, we want you learn about Jesus. See, Jesus is Lord of the entire universe. No one is greater than Him, more powerful than Him, more awesome than Him! All angelic forces—both good and bad—must submit to Jesus. All people—those who have already died, those who are living now, and those who will live in the future—will one day stand before Jesus, fall down on their knees, and declare that He is Lord.

So, who IS Jesus? Jesus is fully God. He has always been fully God and He always will be fully God. However, ever since He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary two thousand years ago, He has been and will continue to be fully human, as well.

Why is Jesus important? The first human, Adam, rebelled against God, and through his rebellion brought the curse of death onto all humans. Our rebellion against God, called sin, separates us from God’s presence and damns us for eternity to hell, which a place of torture. But that’s where Jesus comes in. The life He lived here on earth was perfect: He never broke the rules, He never disobeyed, He never sinned, He always loved others, He always looked out for others, and He was always kind, compassionate, and merciful. Even when Jesus spoke what seemed like harsh words to people, the words were always spoken out of His love and His deep desire for their greater good. And even when people became angry with Jesus, falsely accused Him, falsely condemned him, beat him, spat on him, took away everything from him—even dignity—and then nailed Him to the wooden execution tool called a cross, He still forgave and loved them all. Jesus was perfect, as God required, and so He was able to receive the punishment for our sins. See, even before the world was created, God the Father had already planned to send his Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of the world and to save all us humans from the consequences of our sins. So when Jesus was dying on the cross, He wasn’t merely experiencing torture from his human captors. Rather, God, His Father, was pouring out all His wrath and punishment for our sins onto Jesus. Jesus suffered the eternal torture of hell on the cross for us. In a few short hours on a Friday afternoon, He received God’s righteous punishment for all the sins of all the people who have ever lived and ever will live. Then, with a shout, he breathed his last and died. That following Sunday morning, though, He came back to life and appeared visibly and physically to his friends and followers. After 40 days, He left this world and went back into heaven to be with His Father.

Everyone who believes in this amazing story of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection—and who thereby believes that Jesus is their Savior—is forgiven all their sins and receives the promise of eternal life in eternity with Jesus. Those who have believed thus so will tell you that Jesus is so much better than anything one can find in this world. Jesus is the satisfaction to one’s every desire. There is no one more lovely than Jesus, and no one more loving. He is the King of kings. He is the Lord of lords. He is the Way and the Truth and the Life.
